Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Wizards featured two teams near the bottom of the league standings, and while the Brooklyn Nets’ win may have slightly hurt their lottery position, head coach Jordi Fernandez wasn’t thinking about draft odds, according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post.

Fernandez emphasized that the team’s priority is building long-term habits and improving collectively rather than worrying about where they might pick in June.

“It’s a learning process. And it’s not just about the young guys. And I want to repeat this over and over: It’s about us. It’s about the group. It’s about growing together,” Fernandez said.

“There’s a plan for everybody to get better. And if you don’t get better, you get worse.”
