When this new season began, there were few expectations for the Phoenix Suns after their superstars, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, left the team, creating another rebuilding squad that relies on its young core.
As Jalen Green was sidelined with a hamstring injury, it added to the frustration for the fans, as Devin Booker was left to carry the team alone.
However, the Suns were proving everyone wrong as one of their sharpshooters, Grayson Allen, managed to step up when needed the most.
The sharpshooter guard led the Phoenix with 42 points and 10 three-pointers to outlast the Pelicans with 121-98 on Monday, which achieved a franchise record for the most threes made and a new career high for him.
Allen appreciated the fans cheering him, also knowing they were currently on a streak in their home court, leading into a 6-5a win-loss record.
“I absolutely love Phoenix and love the fans here. It’s surreal to have a moment where everyone is chanting your name and cheering you on. I’ll never ever ever ever take that for granted. I’m so grateful for all the support I get here.”
The 30-year-old shooter is averaging 16.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 42.1% from the field.
Although coming up from a small roster for the Suns, they could reach the playoffs as long as there were players who would step up when needed, like Allen.
The Phoenix are hungrier than the other teams, as they look forward to creating their own legacy since Jordan Ott entered his coaching debut year with them this season.
