The Portland Trail Blazers overcame a late deficit to defeat the previously unbeaten Oklahoma City Thunder 121-119 on Wednesday at Moda Center. Portland snapped the Thunder’s eight-game winning streak to start the 2025-26 season, ending Oklahoma City’s pursuit of a perfect record.
Trailing 94-86 at the end of the third quarter, the Trail Blazers mounted a comeback fueled by key contributions from Deni Avdija and Shaedon Sharpe. Avdija finished with a season-high 26 points, adding 10 rebounds and nine assists, while Sharpe, playing through a calf injury, scored 23 points.
The Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted 35 points and nine assists, but rested during much of the fourth quarter. His streak of scoring 20 or more points in 80 consecutive games, tied for the third-longest in NBA history, remained intact. Isaiah Joe contributed 22 points for Oklahoma City, marking his season high.
Portland’s balanced attack proved decisive down the stretch. Jrue Holiday added 22 points, hitting key shots in the final minutes, and Deni Avdija’s efficiency from the free-throw line kept the Trail Blazers in striking distance. Toumani Camara chipped in 16 points, including three critical three-pointers.
The win halted the Blazers’ three-game losing streak and improves their record to 6-3. The Thunder remain the only unbeaten team on the road before this matchup, with a record of 4-0 away from Oklahoma City.
Portland travels to Miami on Saturday, while Oklahoma City heads to Sacramento on Friday.
