Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade delivered a commanding performance to defeat Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens 86–68 at home, marking its seventh straight EuroLeague win and tying the club’s longest streak in the competition since the 2016–17 season.
The Serbian champions also snapped a seven-game losing run against the Greek powerhouse, rekindling memories of their 81–48 triumph over Panathinaikos on November 4, 2021. Nearly four years later, Zvezda again imposed its dominance on both ends of the floor.
By halftime, Zvezda had built a 46–32 cushion before stretching it to 67–40 through three quarters. Although the visitors narrowed the gap to 78–67 late in the game, the hosts responded with an 8–1 surge to seal the victory and rise to 7–2 on the season.
Point guard Codi Miller-McIntyre orchestrated the attack with 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, narrowly missing a triple-double. Chima Moneke matched his scoring output and added eight boards, while Ognjen Dobric contributed 10 points in a balanced team effort.
Zvezda’s defense set the tone early, holding Panathinaikos scoreless from the field for the entire first quarter (0-of-10 shooting) and winning the rebounding battle 44–31. Head coach Sasa Obradovic praised his squad’s toughness and focus after the win.
Kostas Sloukas led Panathinaikos with 16 points, while Cedi Osman added 14. Kendrick Nunn, who had spearheaded the Greens’ 2024 title run, struggled under Zvezda’s pressure and finished with six points on 2-of-7 shooting.
Obradovic’s side continues to thrive despite several injuries, recording 21 assists and maintaining elite defensive intensity. Miller-McIntyre emphasized the need for consistency despite the team’s growing momentum.
Crvena Zvezda will look to extend its streak when it visits Dubai next Tuesday, while Panathinaikos aims to rebound against Paris next Thursday.
