The Chicago Bulls have started the season strong at 6–1 despite being without guard Coby White, last year’s leading scorer after the All-Star break.

According to Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune, head coach Billy Donovan provided an update on White’s recovery from a left calf strain, noting that the 25-year-old is still “a couple weeks away” from returning to game action.

“I watched him today – he is sprinting, running, cutting, jumping, trying to do everything completely full speed,” Donovan told reporters on Tuesday.

“He’s felt really, really good. … This has just taken a while. I think you can see around the league, there’s a lot of guys dealing with these calves right now. It’s just the way it is.”

White, who averaged 20.1 points per game after last year’s All-Star break, has been steadily ramping up activity in practice as Chicago continues its hot start without him.

White has played 6 seasons for the Bulls. He has averaged 15.2 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 422 regular-season games.
