Josh Giddey delivered one of the best performances of the NBA season, recording a 29-point triple-double as the Chicago Bulls rallied from a 24-point deficit to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 113–111 on Tuesday night at United Center.
Nikola Vucevic hit the go-ahead 3-pointer from the corner with 3.2 seconds left off a pass from Giddey, sealing Chicago’s sixth win in seven games. The Bulls improved to 6–1, while the Sixers dropped to 5–2.
Giddey, who also grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out 12 assists, became the first Bulls player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to post back-to-back triple-doubles. His control of the offense was decisive down the stretch as Chicago erased what had seemed an insurmountable lead.
The 76ers opened with a dominant first quarter, scoring 45 points behind Tyrese Maxey’s hot shooting. Maxey hit four 3-pointers in the frame and finished with 39 points on 14-of-26 shooting, including 6-of-10 from deep.
Philadelphia led by 24 late in the second quarter and appeared firmly in control. But Chicago began to chip away, trimming the deficit to 95–84 heading into the final period.
The Bulls outscored the Sixers 29–16 in the fourth, tightening their defense and forcing seven turnovers. Giddey’s basket with 1:19 remaining made it a one-point game, setting up Vucevic’s decisive shot moments later.
Vucevic finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Isaac Okoro scored 16 and hit three 3-pointers. Matas Buzelis added 10 points and five rebounds. The Bulls shot 47.2% overall and 38.2% from three-point range, holding Philadelphia to just 16 points in the final 12 minutes.
Joel Embiid recorded 20 points and six rebounds for the Sixers, and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 18. Rookie VJ Edgecombe contributed a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Quentin Grimes missed a potential game-winning three at the buzzer.
The Bulls travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks on Friday, while the 76ers visit Cleveland on Wednesday in the second half of a back-to-back.
