Charlotte Hornets guard/forward Brandon Miller was sidelined for the rest of Saturday night’s matchup in Philadelphia after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder, the team announced on social media.

The setback comes as another blow for the 22-year-old, who missed most of last season following wrist surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right hand.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported that Miller left the game early in the second quarter and “appeared to be in a good amount of pain,” though the exact moment or cause of the injury wasn’t immediately clear.

The Hornets have not yet provided details on the severity of the issue or whether further testing will be required.

Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, had been off to a strong start this season.

In his first game against the Brooklyn Nets, he delivered an impressive performance with 25 points and seven assists in 31 minutes, showing flashes of the talent that made him one of the league’s top young prospects.
