Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green addressed the idea of averaging 20 points per game on a struggling team, saying he has no interest in chasing that mark.

“Could I average 20 on a lottery team? I have no interest in doing that,” Green told Jordan Schultz, via HoopsHype. “That’s like you want me to go play bad basketball?”

Green reflected on his peak scoring years, noting he once averaged 15 points per game on a championship-level squad. He emphasized that scoring goals like that require a specific mindset he no longer maintains.

“I don’t know if I have that mindset anymore. I left that mindset so long ago that I’m not sure I could even tap back into it,” Green added.

Over his 13-year NBA career, Green has averaged 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game in 881 regular-season appearances. His impact has been defined more by defense, playmaking, and leadership than pure scoring.

In the playoffs, Green has been a key contributor to four Warriors championships, posting career playoff averages of 11.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. His versatility and defensive acumen have earned him three All-Star selections.

Despite declining scoring numbers in recent seasons—averaging 9.0 points per game in 2024–25—Green remains an essential piece of Golden State’s roster.
