As the Oklahoma City Thunder finalize their roster ahead of the season, they continue to cycle players through the final spots on their 21-man preseason unit.

The team announced that guard/forward Buddy Boeheim has signed with Oklahoma City, taking the roster spot of wing Payton Sandfort, who was released after just about a day with the team.

Boeheim, who made his name at Syracuse, played in 20 NBA regular season games for the Pistons between 2022 and 2024 while on two-way contracts.

He spent last year with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League, where he put up averages of 12.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 26.3 minutes over 40 games.

A recognized shooter, the 25-year-old hit 37.7% of his 9.2 attempts from beyond the arc per game for the Blue during the 2024/25 season.

He’s expected to return to the Blue as a returning-rights player. By signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Thunder, Boeheim becomes eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 in addition to his standard G League salary if he remains with the Blue for at least 60 days.

Sandfort is also expected to head to the G League. As an undrafted rookie, he qualifies as an affiliate player, which means the Blue will hold his rights if he signs a G League contract.
