Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Buddy Hield praised teammate Draymond Green in an exclusive interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke. Hield highlighted Green’s defensive mastery, calling him a “Hall of Famer, stamped on defense” and “probably the greatest defender this game’s ever seen.”
Hield emphasized Green’s leadership, describing him as the “big-bro vibes” and the “heartbeat of this team.” He credited Green’s experience and guidance for helping younger players improve on and off the court.
“Everything that he says, I don’t take it the wrong way, because I know he’s just trying to make me better,” Hield said. He called Green “one of the best competitors this game’s ever had,” underlining the forward’s relentless drive.
Green, a 13-year veteran with Golden State, has been a key figure in the Warriors’ defense and team culture. Over his career, he averages 8.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game while earning Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Hield, entering his second season with the Warriors, has contributed as a reliable perimeter scorer. Last season, he averaged 11.1 points per game while shooting 37% from three-point range.
The Warriors rely on Green’s versatility to anchor their defense and facilitate the offense. His ability to read plays and create opportunities makes him a cornerstone of the team’s strategy.
