Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green is working his way back from a left hamstring strain ahead of the team’s upcoming trip to China.

Coach Jordan Ott told the Arizona Republic on Oct. 5, “It’s progressing in the right place. With soft tissue, you never know exactly where we’re at, but every day has been better. We’ll continue to reassess in China.”

Green missed the Suns’ preseason opener on Oct. 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers but completed a pregame workout that included dribbling, shooting, and movement.

The former Houston Rockets guard played all 82 games in each of the past two regular seasons. Suns teammate Jared Butler said, “I think he’s super close [to returning].”

Green was acquired by Phoenix in the Kevin Durant trade on July 6 alongside Dillon Brooks, in a seven-team deal.

The Suns leave for a 17-hour, 7,500-mile flight to China on Monday, Oct. 6, for two games against the Brooklyn Nets in Macao on Oct. 10 and Oct. 12.

Green has averaged 20.1 points per game over his 307-game career, with 3.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per contest. He averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists last season with Houston.
