The Washington Wizards have added forward Leaky Black to their roster, signing him to an Exhibit 10 deal as the team continues shaping its lineup for training camp.
In a corresponding move, the Wizards waived forward Jonathan Pierre.
Black, 26, went undrafted in 2023 after a five-year career at North Carolina, where he was known for his defensive versatility and ability to guard multiple positions. He originally signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets in July 2023 but was released in August 2024.
He later joined the Wizards for training camp in September 2024 but was waived before the regular season began. Black then spent last season with the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ G League affiliate, where he appeared in 33 games.
With the Go-Go, Black averaged 8.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from three-point range. His efficient shooting and defensive effort made him a key rotation piece in the G League.
Black also logged 26 NBA appearances with Charlotte during the 2023–24 season. In limited minutes, he averaged 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 45 percent from beyond the arc.
The Exhibit 10 contract gives Washington the flexibility to convert Black’s deal into a two-way contract or assign him to Capital City. If he stays with the Go-Go after training camp, he will be eligible for a bonus worth up to $75,000.
