Olympiacos started the 2025-26 EuroLeague season with a 102-96 road win over Baskonia in a high-scoring, back-and-forth matchup. The Reds converted 31 of 32 free throws, making a strong start and finishing the game with clutch scoring.
Sasha Vezenkov led Olympiacos with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Nikola Milutinov posted 12 points and 14 boards. Tyler Dorsey added 21 points, Tyson Ward scored 11, and Evan Fournier contributed 10. For Baskonia, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot scored 23 points, Trent Forrest added a 14-point, 10-assist double-double, and Hamidou Diallo finished with 15 points.
Olympiacos stormed out defensively, holding Baskonia scoreless for over four minutes while Dorsey’s two early triples helped build a 0-12 lead. Baskonia countered with Clement Frisch and Markus Howard hitting back-to-back threes, cutting the deficit to 12-19 after the first quarter.
The second quarter remained tight as Baskonia trimmed the margin multiple times. Luwawu-Cabarrot and Diallo sparked runs, but Milutinov and Ward helped Olympiacos maintain a 48-49 halftime lead. Both teams exchanged baskets in the third quarter, with multiple lead changes, before Donta Hall secured a slim edge for the Reds at 70-73 entering the fourth.
Baskonia briefly took the lead early in the final quarter, with Luwawu-Cabarrot and Diallo combining for consecutive triples to make it 87-83. Olympiacos answered with consistent free throws, and Fournier added baskets driving to the rim to make it 90-91. Vezenkov hit a high-arching catch-and-shoot three-pointer for a 92-96 lead.
Thomas Walkup nailed a step-back triple with 40 seconds remaining, extending the margin to 94-99 and sealing the win. Olympiacos’ balance of scoring, efficient free-throw shooting, and timely three-pointers allowed them to escape a resilient Baskonia team in the Basque Country.
