Desmond Bane is adjusting quickly to his new home with the Orlando Magic, saying that the team’s culture has impressed him since arriving. “No egos—top to bottom,” Bane said, via HoopsHype.
Bane, who was traded from the Memphis Grizzlies on June 15, joined Orlando in exchange for Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, four unprotected first-round picks, and a 2029 first-round pick swap. The deal marked a significant reshaping of the Magic roster ahead of the 2025–26 season.
The 25-year-old guard described the month-long training and acclimation period as smooth, emphasizing the approachability and work ethic of players across the roster. Bane singled out Paolo Banchero for his leadership, noting his professionalism compared to other All-NBA-caliber players.
Bane has not yet spent much time with Franz Wagner, who has been busy with EuroBasket commitments, but he expressed confidence in connecting with the entire team as the season progresses. The Magic’s blend of veterans and young talent, including Banchero, Wagner, and Tyus Jones, has impressed the newly acquired guard.
Orlando enters its 37th NBA season with hopes of improving on last year’s record and establishing a strong foundation for the future.
Bane’s arrival strengthens the Magic’s backcourt alongside Anthony Black and Jalen Suggs, providing scoring, defense, and perimeter shooting. His experience in Memphis, where he averaged 19.2 points and 5.3 assists last season, is expected to translate quickly to Orlando’s offense.
