Former NBA center Olden Polynice shared his perspective on LeBron James during an appearance on Byron Scott’s Fast Break, highlighting one aspect of the superstar he has long disliked.
Polynice said he has always been frustrated with the way James receives all the credit in victories but shares little of the blame in losses. “The one thing I’ve always hated about LeBron — here it comes — it’s like, when they win, it’s all him. When they lose, it’s all them,” Polynice explained, via Lakers Daily.
He added that acknowledging responsibility just once would enhance recognition of James’ greatness. “We could have spoken more to his greatness if one day he had said, ‘That’s on me.’ Just one time, ‘That’s on me.’”
Despite the criticism, Polynice emphasized his admiration for James’ career. “Again, one of the greatest ever, one of the greatest ever. I admit it. I’m a fan. I love LeBron James, people. But dammit, facts are facts. Reality is reality.”
James, 40, continues to produce historic performances for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024–25 season. He recently became the oldest player to score 40+ points in a game and surpassed 50,000 career points across regular season and playoffs.
This season, James has maintained his role as a central figure for the Lakers, averaging 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game in five appearances following a groin injury in March. He also passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for second on the all-time games played list and continues to set records in consecutive triple-doubles.
