Nikola Jokic may not be at peak condition heading into the NBA season, according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst.
Speaking on The Hoop Collective, Windhorst shared that a Serbian NBA executive told him, “Jokic is not quite on his game. He’s not quite in top shape.”
Jokic led Serbia at EuroBasket 2025, but the team was eliminated by Finland in the Round of 16, a surprising exit for one of the tournament favorites.
During the group stage, Jokic averaged 22.3 points on 66.2% shooting while adding 9.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
In the Round of 16 loss to Finland, he posted 9-of-13 shooting for 26 points, along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists, though Serbia fell short by seven points.
Jokic has been remarkably durable in the NBA, starting all 70 games for Denver in the 2024–25 season and averaging 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists.
His career shows consistent high-level production, including seven All-Star appearances and multiple seasons averaging over 26 points per game.
While his EuroBasket performance remained solid statistically, the Serbian executive’s assessment raises questions about how Jokic will carry his form into training camp and the regular season.
The Nuggets will closely monitor their three-time MVP, who has been a central figure in Denver’s offense, especially after a deep playoff run last season.
