The Miami Heat are exploring a potential reunion with forward/center Precious Achiuwa, sources told the Miami Herald.
Achiuwa, the Heat’s 2020 first-round pick, has not received a contract offer yet but maintains interest in returning to South Florida.
Miami’s current roster shows limited depth at center, making Achiuwa a viable candidate for their frontcourt rotation.
The 25-year-old spent his rookie season with the Heat before being part of the 2021 trade that sent Kyle Lowry from Toronto to Miami.
Since leaving Miami, Achiuwa has played for the Raptors and Knicks, developing as a versatile defender and rebounder.
Last season with New York, he averaged 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.8 steals in 20.5 minutes per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field.
Despite solid production inside the arc, Achiuwa struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 59.4 percent of his attempts last season.
Across five NBA seasons, the Nigerian-born big man has averaged 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds in 320 regular-season games.
He also has playoff experience, appearing in 26 postseason contests with the Heat, Raptors, and Knicks.
Miami has often leaned heavily on Bam Adebayo at center, and the team has sought short-term frontcourt solutions through veterans or developmental players.
