Türkiye’s rising star Alperen Sengun continued to cement his legacy at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 by becoming the youngest player in the tournament’s history to record a triple-double.

The 23-year-old center posted 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in Türkiye’s 91-77 Quarter-Finals victory over Poland, joining an elite group of EuroBasket players to achieve the rare feat.

“It feels amazing to contribute to the team in every way,” Sengun said after the game.

With this performance, Sengun became only the fifth player in EuroBasket history to register a triple-double, following names like Toni Kukoc (1995), Andrei Mandache (2017), Mateusz Ponitka (2022), and Luka Doncic, who earlier in the tournament had posted 26 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds against Belgium.

The Turkish big man, however, did it at a younger age than any of the others had achieved the milestone, showcasing his potential for years to come.

Sengun had flirted with triple-doubles earlier in the competition, narrowly missing the mark against Czechia with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists, and again in the group-stage clash with Serbia, recording 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists against Nikola Jokic’s side.

“Those games gave me confidence. Every time I get close, I just push harder,” he explained.

Awarded TCL Player of the Game for his Quarter-Finals heroics, Sengun’s versatility – scoring, rebounding, and playmaking – was pivotal in helping Türkiye reach only their second EuroBasket Semi-Final in national history. “I just want to help my team win, whatever it takes,” he said.

His historic triple-double not only underlines his status as one of Europe’s brightest young talents but also places him firmly in the conversation as one of the defining players of EuroBasket 2025.
