The Brooklyn Nets have continued reshaping their roster by signing forward EJ Liddell to a two-way contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto.
Liddell, 24, enters Brooklyn after short stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls. The Ohio State product appeared in 20 NBA games across two seasons, averaging 1.3 points in limited minutes.
His most consistent production has come in the G League. Playing for the Windy City Bulls in 2024–25, Liddell posted 15.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field. He also connected on 36.1 percent of his three-point attempts.
The two-way contract allows Liddell to split time between the Nets and their G League affiliate. It provides Brooklyn with frontcourt depth while offering him a chance to carve out a role in the NBA.
For the Nets, the move comes as the franchise enters its 50th season in the league. General manager Sean Marks and head coach Jordi Fernández are balancing a mix of veterans and young prospects after a busy summer.
Brooklyn added four first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, headlined by Russian point guard Egor Demin and French guard Nolan Traoré. Israeli prospects Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf were also selected, alongside second-rounder Adou Thiero.
The roster now blends proven contributors like Nic Claxton, Terance Mann, and Michael Porter Jr. with rookies and developmental players. Liddell’s versatility as a forward gives Fernández another option in a crowded rotation.
Injuries delayed Liddell’s NBA debut after he tore his ACL in 2022 summer league play. He has since worked his way back and shown progress at the G League level.
