The Brooklyn Nets have been busy this summer, strategically maneuvering both contracts and future assets as they prepare for the 2025-26 NBA season. With more than $16 million still available in cap space, the team’s offseason work may not yet be complete.

General manager Sean Marks has already made several significant moves. Through salary-clearing trades, the Nets added Michael Porter Jr., Terance Mann, and Haywood Highsmith.

Those transactions also brought valuable draft capital to Brooklyn: two future first-round picks – one of which was used to select Drake Powell in 2025 – and an additional second-round pick further down the line.

Brooklyn is also planning to re-sign key players, including Day’Ron Sharpe and Ziaire Williams, while adding rookie Ricky Council IV to the roster.

Managing roster spots will be critical, as the team currently has 15 players under contract. Cam Thomas remains a pending restricted free agent, which could further complicate the roster situation.

With cap space available and additional assets in hand, the Nets appear positioned to continue shaping their roster while balancing immediate competitiveness with long-term flexibility.

The moves so far suggest that Sean Marks is focused on building depth and future options while maintaining the flexibility to respond to potential opportunities before the season begins.
