Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to action and immediately made his presence felt as Greece cruised past Georgia 94-53 in Group C of EuroBasket 2025.
The Milwaukee Bucks star, who rested in Greece’s previous game, posted 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in just over 25 minutes. His efficiency stood out, hitting 9 of 11 shots from the field.
Dinos Mitoglou added 17 points and knocked down three triples, while Tyler Dorsey chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Greece shot nearly 58 percent overall and buried 14 three-pointers to remain unbeaten in the group stage.
Georgia stayed competitive through the first quarter, but Greece broke the game open with a 12-2 run in the second frame. Mitoglou scored eight points during that stretch, helping his side build a 36-22 advantage.
By halftime, the lead had ballooned to 17, and the crowd of 7,290 in Limassol watched as Antetokounmpo took control on both ends. Greece’s defense limited Georgia to just 29.3 percent shooting for the game.
Alexander Mamukelashvili was the lone bright spot for Georgia with 14 points, while Giorgi Shermadini and Duda Sanadze contributed 11 apiece. Still, turnovers and poor perimeter shooting (4-of-22 from deep) doomed their chances.
The victory lifted Greece to a 3-0 record in Group C. Their spot in the Round of 16 is not yet officially secured, as advancement depends on results from later games between Spain, Cyprus, Italy, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
If Cyprus defeats Spain or Italy beats Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece will book its place in the knockout stage and head to Riga.
With momentum building, Greece will next face Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 2, looking to keep their perfect record intact and move closer to a deep EuroBasket run.
