Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski said the team fully supports Jonathan Kuminga amid ongoing contract talks. Speaking with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs,” Podziemski emphasized the locker room’s unity regarding the situation.

“Everybody on our team knows no matter how that situation’s resolved, it doesn’t change our viewpoint of JK as a person [and] as a player,” Podziemski said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. He added that the team’s priority is retaining Kuminga in Golden State.

Podziemski also addressed media scrutiny, noting that coverage can exaggerate tensions. “The media is going to portray it one way to try and make people think differently of it,” he said. “But it doesn’t change my perspective.”

Kuminga and the Warriors have yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension. The team reportedly offered a two-year, $45 million deal with a team option in the second season, while Kuminga’s camp prefers a player option for greater leverage.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne suggested a potential compromise: a two-plus-one deal. This structure would give Kuminga more security and control while keeping him in Golden State’s long-term plans.

The 22-year-old forward had a breakout 2024–25 season, averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. His versatility proved crucial when veterans like Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green missed time.

Golden State has made it clear Kuminga is a key piece for the franchise, and owner Joe Lacob has reportedly backed efforts to retain him. Sign-and-trade discussions have occurred, but the Warriors set a high price, requiring a young player and a first-round pick.

Podziemski, entering his third year, stressed that all he can control is his own game. He said, “I know all I can control is being the best version of Brandin Podziemski that I can be… and everything else is going to fall how it may.”
