Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has been making the rounds in Europe, keeping a close eye on his international players, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Before witnessing Nikola Jovic guide Serbia to a 34-point win over Luka Doncic’s Slovenian squad, Spoelstra visited Pelle Larsson as he and the Swedish national team faced off against Estonia.

EuroBasket provides Larsson with a stage to display his full skill set and continue impressing the Heat, who already appreciate his approach to the game.

“What he does are the things that we value,” Spoelstra said of Larsson, per Winderman. “He’s so tough. He makes winning plays. He’s a great role player. He fits around guys, the best players. And he will continue to get better, because he has a great work ethic.”

Spoelstra has been particularly interested in observing how the second-year guard handles the ball, though he avoided pigeonholing Larsson into a specific role.

The 6’5” wing has the versatility to contribute in multiple areas, and his impact isn’t limited to any single position or responsibility.

Winderman adds that Spoelstra’s remarks suggest the Swedish player has already earned a spot in the Heat’s rotation for the upcoming season.

EuroBasket thus becomes a proving ground where Larsson can continue to demonstrate toughness, adaptability, and the winning instincts that make him a promising contributor for Miami.

Strong play internationally gives Larsson a chance to prove he can contribute reliably and flexibly for the Heat in 2025–26.
