Latvia, one of the co-hosts of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, have officially unveiled their final 12-man roster as they prepare to launch a determined campaign on home soil.
The team, guided by head coach Luca Banchi, enters the tournament brimming with confidence after an impressive showing at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, where they secured a top-five finish.
This summer also marks Latvia’s long-awaited return to Europe’s premier basketball competition, having been absent since 2017.
Latvia’s Final Squad for EuroBasket 2025
- Davis Bertans
- Dairis Bertans
- Klavs Cavars
- Andrejs Grazulis
- Arturs Kurucs
- Rihards Lomazs
- Mareks Mejeris
- Kristaps Porzingis
- Rolands Smits
- Marcis Steinbergs
- Arturs Zagars
- Kristers Zoriks
In preparation for the championship, Latvia played five tune-up games, finishing with a 2–3 record. They managed to split their double-header against Italy, secured an encouraging victory over Slovenia, but came up short against both Lithuania and Greece.
All eyes will be on Kristaps Porzingis, the Boston Celtics star, who headlines the roster. Porzingis missed the World Cup two years ago due to injury, making his return even more significant for the home crowd.
Alongside him, Arturs Zagars – one of the breakout sensations of the 2023 World Cup in Jakarta and Manila – will look to build on his growing reputation.
Veterans Dairis and Davis Bertans provide valuable leadership and experience, adding balance to a squad that blends established stars with emerging talent.
Latvia will host Group A games in Riga, where they will face Czechia, Estonia, Portugal, Serbia, and Türkiye.
The team’s opening clash is set for August 27, when they go head-to-head against Türkiye at 17:00 CET, a matchup that will kick off not just their campaign, but the opening day of the entire competition.
