The New York Knicks are reportedly considering a run at Malik Beasley following confirmation that he is no longer a target in a federal gambling investigation.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Beasley’s attorneys, Steve Haney and Mike Schachter, were informed by the Eastern District of New York that the Pistons guard is not under investigation.

Beasley, 28, had been linked to allegations of betting on NBA games and prop wagers during the 2023–24 season. The news halted Detroit’s plans to offer him a three-year, $42 million extension.

“Months after this investigation commenced, Malik remains uncharged and is not the target of this investigation,” Haney told ESPN.

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported that the Knicks have maintained interest in Beasley since facing Detroit in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.

Beasley enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his career, averaging 16.3 points per game while shooting 41.6% from three in all 82 regular season games for Detroit.

He played a pivotal role in helping the Pistons secure a 44–38 record, their first playoff berth since 2019. In six postseason games, Beasley added 14.0 points per contest and connected on 3.3 three-pointers per game.

Before the investigation, Detroit was in discussions to extend Beasley on a multi-year deal. With his name cleared, those talks could potentially resume.

The veteran guard has spent nine seasons in the NBA, with stops in Denver, Minnesota, Utah, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and most recently Detroit. His experience and shooting ability make him one of the top free agents in the 2025 market.

With free agency underway, Beasley’s cleared status opens the door for multiple teams to pursue him, including the Knicks, who value perimeter shooting and veteran floor spacing.
