Portugal have officially unveiled their 12-man roster for the highly anticipated FIBA EuroBasket 2025, led by Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta and veteran guard Travante Williams.

Head coach Mário Gomes confirmed the final squad list following the team’s last warm-up game, marking a historic moment for Portuguese basketball.

After a 14-year absence, the national team has successfully earned its place back in Europe’s premier basketball competition.

The confirmed roster includes: Francisco Amarante, Diogo Brito, Diogo Gameiro, Miguel Queiroz, Neemias Queta, Daniel Relvão, Cândido Sá, Nuno Sá, Rafael Lisboa, Diogo Ventura, Vladyslav Voytso, and Travante Williams.

Leading up to the tournament, Portugal played a total of five preparation games against national team opposition – excluding their final test against club side Sporting CP – finishing with a 3-2 record.

Notable victories came against Spain, Iceland, and Sweden, results that have boosted confidence ahead of the continental showdown.

For Portuguese fans, this qualification is particularly significant. A full generation of supporters has grown up without witnessing their national team compete on such a grand stage.

The last appearance dates back to 2011, when Portugal finished in 21st place.

Now, under Coach Gomes, the team is writing a new chapter in history, marking just their fourth-ever EuroBasket appearance.

In the Group Phase, Portugal will be based in Riga, Latvia, where they will face a tough Group A lineup consisting of Serbia, Latvia, Türkiye, Czechia, and Estonia.

The campaign tips off on August 27, with Portugal opening against Czechia, before taking on the rest of their group in hopes of advancing further than ever before.
