Uros Trifunovic will not be joining Serbia’s national team for this summer’s EuroBasket.

Plagued by injury issues, Trifunovic missed the team’s friendly matches and did not travel with the squad, making it expected that he would be absent from the final 12-man roster representing Serbia, according to Meridian Sport.

Instead, he is now heading to Tel Aviv to begin his tenure with his new club, Maccabi.

Meridian Sport also reports that Alen Smailagic will not make Serbia’s final cut and is preparing to join his new team, Virtus Bologna.

Like Trifunovic, Smailagic was sidelined during the national team’s preparation games due to injury.

However, his impressive performance over the season in Kaunas convinced coach Dusko Ivanovic to secure his services for the Italian club.

With these departures, Serbia’s squad now stands at 15 players, just a week ahead of EuroBasket.

The remaining players include Aleksa Avramovic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Dejan Davidovac, Ognjen Dobric, Marko Guduric, Nikola Jokic, Nikola Jovic, Stefan Jovic, Balsa Koprivica, Vanja Marinkovic, Vasilije Micic, Nikola Milutinov, Filip Petrusev, Nikola Topic, and Tristan Vukcevic.

The team’s final preparation match before the tournament is scheduled for Thursday against Slovenia at a sold-out Belgrade Arena.

Serbia will then open its EuroBasket campaign on August 27 in Riga, aiming to perform at the highest level against some of Europe’s top competition.
