According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Milwaukee Bucks explored the possibility of acquiring forward Jonathan Kuminga from the Golden State Warriors earlier this offseason.

However, discussions between the two teams never gained serious traction due to a key sticking point.

Golden State reportedly signaled that any sign-and-trade framework for Kuminga would need to include veteran big man Bobby Portis heading to the Bay Area.

The Bucks, valuing Portis’ production, energy, and leadership off the bench, were unwilling to part ways with him, effectively shutting down the talks.

Portis has played 10 seasons for 4 teams, including the Bucks and Bulls. He has averaged 12.0 points and 7.2 rebounds in 654 regular-season games. He has won 1 NBA championship.
