According to league sources cited by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Sacramento Kings are widely viewed as the frontrunner to sign free agent point guard Russell Westbrook.

Despite earlier reports this summer suggesting that the Kings’ backcourt might be too crowded to accommodate Westbrook – unless they were to move either Malik Monk or Devin Carter – the former MVP continues to be strongly connected to Sacramento in trade and signing discussions.

The Kings currently have a solid guard rotation, and the presence of Monk and Carter complicates the logistics of adding Westbrook without making roster adjustments.

However, Westbrook’s experience and playmaking ability make him an intriguing option for the Kings as they look to bolster their lineup and deepen their backcourt options heading into the new season.

Even though a trade involving Monk or Carter has yet to materialize, Westbrook’s name remains firmly linked to Sacramento, signaling that the team remains interested and could still find a path to fit the veteran guard on their roster.
