The Golden State Warriors are firm on their two-year, $45 million offer for Jonathan Kuminga, insisting that the second year includes a team option. Sources told NBA insider Jake Fischer that Kuminga prefers a player option for the second season, causing ongoing deadlock in negotiations.

Golden State is open to sign-and-trade inquiries for the 22-year-old forward but remains unwilling to alter the contract’s structure. The Warriors want control over Year 2, while Kuminga’s camp seeks flexibility through a player option.

Kuminga averaged 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds last season, solidifying his role as a key contributor. Head coach Steve Kerr reportedly views him as vital, especially when veterans like Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, or Draymond Green rest.

The Warriors have made clear their priority is long-term cap flexibility under the current NBA financial rules. A team executive told Keith Smith of Spotrac that Golden State still values Kuminga but must balance player desires with salary cap realities.

Despite ongoing talks, no sign-and-trade package has met the Warriors’ price. Reports indicate Golden State demands both a promising young player and a future first-round draft pick in any deal.

The 22-year-old remains unsigned with his $7.9 million qualifying offer still available, giving him until October 1 to decide. Kuminga’s camp is seriously considering accepting the one-year deal with the built-in no-trade clause, which would grant him greater control over any midseason moves.

Potential suitors, including the Sacramento Kings, have explored trade options, but no offer has matched Golden State’s requirements. The Brooklyn Nets, once a rumored destination, appear less likely to engage in trade talks.
