Babatunde Oladotun, widely regarded as one of the most promising young basketball prospects in the country, has officially reclassified from the class of 2027 to 2026.

He will now graduate this coming spring from Blake High School in Maryland, making him one of the youngest players in his class – he won’t turn 18 until December of his freshman year in college.

Previously ranked as the No. 1 high school basketball player in the 2027 class, Oladotun is expected to be a consensus top-10 recruit in the 2026 cycle following his reclassification.

Speaking to ESPN, Oladotun explained the reasoning behind the move.

“First and foremost, I am ahead of schedule academically and will graduate next year,” he said. “Most of my life, I have played up in age and after playing in the 17U division for Team Durant, I felt comfortable.

“I have gained 20 pounds over the last year and it never felt like I was playing up. Lastly, I am staying and graduating from Blake High School. It is a great environment, and I have a lot of support.”

With his recruitment now accelerating, Oladotun is beginning to explore his college options more seriously. He intends to visit Maryland and Virginia Tech shortly and has already taken unofficial visits to UCLA and USC during the past year.

Oladotun’s father, Ibrahim, also emphasized the family’s priorities when evaluating college programs.

“We are looking for a coach that has a long history of teaching and winning,” he told ESPN. “Someone who knows how to use a big guard and has a history of coaching big guards. A coach that also plays an NBA-style offense with quick actions.”
