The Chicago Bulls are actively monitoring Coby White’s situation as he approaches unrestricted free agency next summer, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. During a recent Bleacher Report live stream, Fischer revealed that White is reportedly seeking a contract exceeding $30 million annually.
White, 25, is entering the final year of his three-year, $36 million deal after a career-best season, averaging 20.4 points and 4.5 assists per game. Despite his improved performance, the Bulls finished with a 39–43 record and missed the playoffs following a loss in the play-in tournament.
Fischer noted that White’s high salary expectations may be influencing Chicago’s approach to other free agents, including Josh Giddey. The Bulls appear prepared to take a firm stance in negotiations, given financial limitations.
Two weeks ago, team executives acknowledged the difficulty in retaining White long-term due to league salary cap rules. As reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac, one executive said, “We probably can’t extend him, because the rules don’t allow for us to pay him enough. But we want Coby to be a Bull for a long time.”
Alongside White, fellow guard Ayo Dosunmu is also set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Dosunmu averaged 12.3 points and 4.5 assists during the 2024–25 season and is in the final year of a three-year, $21 million contract.
Salary cap concerns weigh heavily on the organization’s options. K.C. Johnson highlighted that financial constraints may force Chicago’s hand, despite the front office valuing White and Dosunmu’s contributions.
