The Golden State Warriors are showing reluctance to include Buddy Hield or Moses Moody in any trade package involving Jonathan Kuminga, according to a report from The Athletic’s Sam Amick.
On Monday, Amick clarified earlier coverage regarding the Warriors’ negotiations with the Sacramento Kings about a potential sign-and-trade involving Kuminga. He tweeted that it’s incorrect to say pick protections are the only hurdle in talks. Instead, Golden State’s unwillingness to move either Hield or Moody has become a significant sticking point.
Additionally, the Warriors expect Kuminga to remain on their roster for the upcoming season, according to Amick’s sources and confirmation from Tim Kawakami. However, with nearly two months before Kuminga’s qualifying offer deadline on October 1, there is still room for developments.
Kuminga has shown steady growth during his four NBA seasons, averaging 12.5 points and 4 rebounds over 258 regular-season games. This season, he is posting 15.3 points per game while playing 24.3 minutes on average.
Hield, a veteran shooting guard with nearly a decade in the league, averaged 11.1 points per game for the Warriors this past season.
Moody, a young guard, has appeared in 83 games over three seasons. Though his minutes are limited, he represents potential future value for the team.
