The Dallas Mavericks have appointed Ethan Casson as their new president of business operations, according to a report by Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

Casson brings with him nearly a decade of leadership experience, having most recently served as CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He officially stepped down from that role last month following the completion of the Timberwolves’ ownership sale.

Casson’s new role with the Mavericks will begin on August 11. In this position, he will oversee the franchise’s business strategy and operations, including areas like marketing, partnerships, and fan engagement.

He will report directly to CEO Rick Welts, who is currently leading the organization through key long-term projects – including the early planning stages for a potential new arena.
