Real Madrid has signed American forward Chuma Okeke to a two-year contract, the Spanish club announced Wednesday, marking the 26-year-old’s first venture into European basketball.

The move adds frontcourt depth to a squad led by newly appointed head coach Sergio Scariolo, as the team looks to make a strong push in the upcoming EuroLeague season.

Okeke, a former first-round NBA Draft pick, split the 2024–25 campaign across multiple levels, appearing in both the NBA and G League.

He played seven games for the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he saw limited action in three playoff appearances.

Prior to that, the 2.01-meter forward posted standout numbers with the Westchester Knicks in the G League, averaging 17.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks over 28 regular-season games.

Drafted 16th overall by the Orlando Magic in 2019, Okeke missed his rookie year while recovering from an ACL tear suffered during his collegiate career at Auburn University.

He played four seasons in Orlando, with his best showing in 2021–22 when he posted 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds across 70 games.

In total, he logged 198 NBA regular-season appearances, averaging 6.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 20.3 minutes per game.

At Auburn, he played a key role in the Tigers’ 2019 Final Four run, the first in program history, before declaring for the draft.
