The Golden State Warriors have no interest in acquiring DeMar DeRozan, according to recent reports.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick stated on the Warriors Plus Minus podcast that the team “weren’t interested in Carter or DeRozan.” This update comes as Sacramento Kings continue to explore options for Jonathan Kuminga, one of the top players remaining on the trade market.

Kuminga has been frequently linked to the Kings, with meetings involving Sacramento executives Scott Perry and Doug Christie. Rumors have included potential sign-and-trade deals, but Sacramento has reportedly been hesitant to offer Kuminga a contract in the $20 million average annual value (AAV) range, per Sports Illustrated.

DeRozan signed a three-year, $74 million contract with the Kings in July 2024 in a sign-and-trade deal that involved the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. The 35-year-old veteran has been a key scorer for Sacramento, averaging 22.2 points per game this season.

As the offseason progresses, the Warriors’ focus remains on evaluating their current roster and developing talent without pursuing costly veteran acquisitions. DeRozan’s name is unlikely to come up again in Golden State trade talks.

The Kings, meanwhile, continue discussions on how best to acquire Kuminga, whose skill set fits their evolving lineup. Sacramento’s reluctance to commit a high salary may complicate negotiations.
