Should the Miami Heat consider adding another center to their roster? According to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the answer is yes.

Although Miami currently has Kel’el Ware and Bam Adebayo capable of handling duties at the center position, their depth becomes a concern if either player is unavailable due to injury, foul trouble, or rest.

In such scenarios, the team would be forced to rely on less ideal options. Nikola Jovic, for instance, would be stretched out of his natural role if asked to fill in as a backup center, potentially affecting his performance and the team’s overall defensive structure.

Meanwhile, rookie Vladislav Goldin – signed on a two-way contract – lacks the lateral quickness and defensive versatility typically needed to handle modern NBA pick-and-roll schemes and switch-heavy defensive assignments.

Despite this need, addressing the issue isn’t straightforward. The Heat are already operating above the luxury tax threshold, which significantly limits their flexibility in signing or trading for a reliable veteran big man.

As Winderman points out, any move to reinforce the frontcourt would have to account not only for roster fit but also for the financial ramifications.
