Cleveland Cavaliers forward Dean Wade has emerged as a trade candidate with growing interest from playoff-contending teams, according to Chris Fedor.

Fedor reported that one league source characterized the chances of Wade being traded as “50/50 at this point — a complete and utter toss-up,” depending on the quality of offers Cleveland receives.

The 28-year-old, entering the final season of his three-year, $18.5 million contract, is viewed as a cost-efficient option for teams looking to bolster their frontcourt depth. His $6.6 million salary fits comfortably under most contenders’ cap sheets.

Wade’s combination of defensive versatility and outside shooting makes him an appealing target. At 6-foot-9, he can guard multiple positions, and his career 37% three-point shooting adds valuable spacing to any lineup.

In the 2024–25 regular season, Wade appeared in 59 games, starting 30, while averaging 5.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. His ability to play both forward spots and contribute on both ends of the floor continues to draw interest.

Cleveland’s luxury tax situation further complicates the decision. The Cavaliers are already nearly $20 million over the second apron, and keeping Wade beyond this season would push their payroll higher.

Fedor noted that teams around the NBA “value all the same things that the Cavs value with him,” which could lead Cleveland to seriously consider trade offers rather than risk losing him for nothing in free agency.
