Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has confirmed his intention to represent Greece at EuroBasket 2025, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
The tournament, which runs from August 27 to September 14, will feature the two-time NBA MVP in Group C alongside Italy, Georgia, Spain, Cyprus, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Greece opens its campaign on August 28 against Italy in Limassol, Cyprus.
Antetokounmpo, 30, is coming off another dominant NBA season in which he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists while shooting 60.1 percent from the field. His postseason performance was equally impressive, posting 33 points and 15.4 rebounds per game in Milwaukee’s playoff run.
EuroBasket 2025 will mark Antetokounmpo’s latest appearance with the Greek national team, which he has represented in several FIBA tournaments since 2014. Greece will look to improve on its previous showings and challenge perennial powerhouses like Spain and Italy for a spot in the knockout rounds.
The 42nd edition of the EuroBasket championship is co-hosted by Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia. Greece’s group-stage games will take place in Limassol, with a potential path to the finals if they finish among the top teams in their group.
Greece faces a challenging schedule that includes matchups against hosts Cyprus on August 30 and reigning European champions Spain on September 4. Other key games are scheduled against Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the opening week.
