Lawrence Frank spoke at length about the addition of Bradley Beal during his recent media availability, highlighting that the move – which became official on Friday – was a long time in the making.

According to Frank, the Clippers had previously made two separate attempts to trade for the veteran shooting guard, underscoring their long-standing interest in his skill set, per Law Murray of The Athletic.

Frank explained that veteran guard’s ability to serve as a secondary playmaker and ball-handler was a key reason the team pursued him. Those complementary skills are seen as vital to the Clippers’ offensive structure.

In addition, Clippers president of basketball operations expressed confidence in Beal’s potential to make a meaningful impact on the defensive end of the floor, despite his offensive reputation.

Another recurring point Frank emphasized was the team’s intention to utilize the former All-Star in hand-off actions – a tactic the Clippers have leaned on heavily in the past, particularly with Norman Powell.

This strategic fit is one of the ways the organization envisions integrating Beal seamlessly into their existing system.
