Veteran guard Bradley Beal is officially headed to Los Angeles, having signed a new deal with the Clippers, according to Law Murray of The Athletic.
As Brad Turner of the LA Times adds, Beal’s contract is worth $5.4 million and includes a player option for the second year, giving him flexibility moving forward.
This signing comes shortly after NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Beal had cleared waivers following a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns, effectively making him an unrestricted free agent and free to sign with any team.
The Clippers wasted no time in securing the services of the 3-time All-Star, a move that was met with high praise from head coach Tyronn Lue.
“Players of this caliber are very rare, and they’re hard to come by,” Lue said in an official team press release. “You can put him in so many different spots and he’ll find ways to score: out of pick-and-roll, coming off screens, catch-and-shoot.
“He can create his own or he can play off the ball. He’s a great cutter. He’s also a great playmaker who is going to make everybody else better. I’m excited he’s with us.”
Beal’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, echoed that enthusiasm in an interview with Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina, noting the franchise’s expectations for his client.
“The Clippers want the most aggressive and dynamic version of Brad,” Bartelstein said. “That’s music to his ears.”
During the 2024–25 season with the Suns, Beal averaged 17.0 points and 3.7 assists per game while balancing time between starting and coming off the bench.
Known for his efficient shooting – 37.6% from three-point range over his career – Beal now joins a Clippers team that has retooled its roster with seasoned veterans, including John Collins and Brook Lopez, in a continued push to compete for a championship alongside cornerstone forward Kawhi Leonard.
