Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga remains at the center of the team’s offseason plans, with his restricted free agency shaping what moves the franchise can make.

Speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, ESPN’s Shams Charania explained, via RealGM, “The Warriors have not made a move yet this offseason because a lot of what they’re going to do, or trying to do, hinges on his restricted free agency.”

Charania added, “Does he come back on a deal? Or are you signing and trading him? That’s held up their movement over the offseason. You have a full NBA team whose actions have been held up so far because they’re waiting on that.”

The 22-year-old forward is coming off a breakout campaign, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field. He also impressed in the postseason with the same scoring average during extended playoff minutes.

Golden State extended Kuminga a $7.9 million qualifying offer earlier this summer, retaining the right to match any contract he signs elsewhere.

According to Charania, three teams showing interest in the athletic wing are the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Sacramento Kings.

However, he cautioned, “Having an interest and getting a deal done [are] two totally different things. Nothing quite yet there. We’re still a ways away from that.”

The Warriors and Kuminga’s representatives are expected to meet during Las Vegas Summer League to reassess his role and explore trade possibilities further.

For now, Golden State seems prepared to either match an offer sheet or continue developing the former lottery pick if no compelling trade materializes.
