Herb Jones and the New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement on a new three-year contract extension valued at $68 million.

With this deal in place, Jones is now secured under contract with the franchise for the next five years, totaling $97 million in guaranteed salary.

The agreement also includes a player option for the 2029-30 NBA season, giving Jones the flexibility to decide his future at that point.

Jones solidified his reputation as one of the league’s premier defenders by earning a spot on the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the 2023-24 season.

In addition to his standout defensive contributions, he showcased significant improvement on the offensive end, knocking down 42 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc that year – a career high.

Despite his strong performances, Jones’s most recent campaign was cut short, as he appeared in only 20 games due to injuries to his shoulder and labrum.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft by New Orleans, Jones played his college basketball at the University of Alabama, where he developed into a versatile and hard-nosed competitor.
