The chances of Andrew Wiggins joining the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason appear slim, according to a report from Lakers insider Jovan Buha.
During a live Q&A session on Monday, Buha addressed the possibility of Wiggins being traded to Los Angeles, saying, via Bleacher Report, “I don’t know if Wiggins at this point is looking realistic,” citing what the Miami Heat are reportedly asking in return.
Wiggins, 30, was traded to the Miami Heat on February 6 in a five-team deal that also sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. Since arriving in Miami, he has posted strong performances, including a 42-point game on March 23 in a win over the Charlotte Hornets.
The Heat acquired Wiggins after he averaged 17.6 points per game for the Warriors earlier in the 2024–25 season. In his 17 regular-season appearances with Miami, he increased his output to 19.0 points per game while shooting 45.8% from the field and adding 3.3 assists.
Wiggins’ playoff experience and two-way ability make him an attractive trade target, but his current production and Miami’s high demands seem to be obstacles for the Lakers.
Los Angeles, coming off a challenging postseason exit, has been linked to several trade scenarios as they look to strengthen their roster, though a deal for Wiggins now seems unlikely.
Across his 11-year career, Wiggins has appeared in 766 regular-season games, averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He was also a key contributor to Golden State’s 2022 NBA championship run.
