The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Daeqwon Plowden from his two-way contract, according to RealGM. The release comes less than a week after the Suns officially added him to their roster.

Plowden, 26, arrived in Phoenix last week as part of the largest trade in NBA history — a seven-team deal that involved Kevin Durant moving to the Houston Rockets and the Suns landing Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and several young players.

Plowden made his NBA debut earlier this season with the Atlanta Hawks, appearing in six games and averaging 7.2 points in 12 minutes per contest.

The Philadelphia native went undrafted out of Bowling Green in 2022 but has since built a professional career through the G League and short stints with multiple NBA organizations.

Over the past three seasons, he has played for the Birmingham Squadron, Osceola Magic, and College Park Skyhawks, posting strong numbers in the G League, including 15.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this year.

Phoenix acquired him alongside young prospects and a draft pick as part of their strategy to reset the roster after a 36–46 season that saw them miss the playoffs.

Plowden’s waiving opens up a two-way slot for the Suns, who remain focused on adding players that fit their new direction and complement cornerstone pieces such as Jalen Green and Devin Booker.

During his collegiate career at Bowling Green, Plowden earned All-MAC honors three times and was named to the conference’s All-Defensive Team in 2022.

With his release, Plowden now becomes an unrestricted free agent, eligible to sign with any NBA or G League team.
