Lonzo Ball expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Cleveland Cavaliers during a recent appearance on the What an Experience podcast.
The 27-year-old point guard said, via ClutchPoints, “Just playing, competing for a ring. I feel like that should be the goal, I feel like that is the goal.”
Ball added he is grateful for the chance to be part of a team with real championship potential. “I’m happy to still be playing anywhere, let alone a team that has a real chance to win a ring,” he said.
He emphasized his focus on contributing to team success. “My whole life, I feel like I’ve been playing the right brand of basketball, and that’s to win games,” Ball explained.
The trade sending Ball to Cleveland was completed last week, with the Chicago Bulls receiving wing Isaac Okoro in return. This move helps the Bulls balance their guard-heavy roster.
Ball has battled through multiple knee surgeries but showed solid health last season, averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 22.2 minutes over 35 games with Chicago.
Near the end of last season, Ball secured a two-year, $20 million extension with the Bulls, including a $10 million team option for 2026-27.
Meanwhile, Okoro, who signed a three-year, $33 million contract with Cleveland last year, has seen his playing time decrease behind Max Strus and De’Andre Hunter.
