The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a two-way deal with guard Trey Alexander, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. League sources confirmed the move on Thursday as the team continues to bolster its backcourt depth.
Alexander, 22, played last season with the Denver Nuggets under a two-way contract. He appeared in 24 NBA games, averaging 1.3 points and 0.5 rebounds in just under five minutes per contest.
The Oklahoma native showcased his scoring ability in the G League, posting impressive numbers for the Grand Rapids Gold. In 30 games, Alexander averaged 25.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 46.2% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range.
After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, he joined Denver for Summer League play and signed his first two-way deal with the Nuggets on July 10, 2024. His productivity in the G League earned him several NBA call-ups, though his minutes at the next level were limited.
The two-way contract allows Alexander to split time between the Pelicans and their G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.
