Luka Doncic is more than just the face of the Los Angeles Lakers — he’s now a central figure in the franchise’s decision-making process.

According to Ramona Shelburne on ESPN LA, the 26-year-old All-NBA guard is involved in “everything they’re doing,” reinforcing the organization’s full commitment to their midseason blockbuster trade. The Lakers acquired Doncic from the Mavericks in February in a deal that sent Anthony Davis to Dallas, marking one of the most impactful trades in NBA history.

Though Shelburne noted Doncic may not express his views as publicly as LeBron James has in past years, she emphasized that he is fully integrated into the Lakers’ offseason planning. “They have confidence in this plan,” Shelburne added, referencing the Lakers’ belief in the direction of their roster construction.

Since acquiring Doncic, Los Angeles has already made a move by signing forward Jake LaRavia. The team is now actively pursuing a starting center, with Deandre Ayton and Al Horford among the names being considered.

Despite a first-round playoff exit against the Timberwolves, Doncic made an immediate impact in Los Angeles. He averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists across 28 regular-season games with the Lakers. In the playoffs, he elevated his performance, putting up 30.2 points per game while battling a back injury in the final contest.

His influence within the Lakers’ front office discussions signals a shift in how the franchise operates head of post-LeBron era. While James is still under contract, the franchise appears to be pivoting toward Doncic as the long-term centerpiece.

The front office, led by Rob Pelinka, now faces a critical offseason. With limited cap space and aging stars, internal alignment with Doncic’s vision will be essential in attracting the right supporting pieces.
