The Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings have completed a trade that sends Dario Saric to Sacramento in exchange for Jonas Valanciunas.

Saric, who signed with Denver using the taxpayer midlevel exception last season, struggled to find consistent playing time and eventually fell out of the Nuggets’ rotation.

Valanciunas, meanwhile, signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Washington Wizards in the previous offseason before being traded to Sacramento at the deadline.

The veteran big man will now join the Nuggets and is expected to provide valuable depth behind former MVP Nikola Jokic, giving Denver a reliable and experienced backup option at center.

This move offers both teams a reset at the backup five position, with Denver opting for a more traditional center and Sacramento acquiring a stretch big in Saric who may be a better fit in their offensive system.
