The New Orleans Pelicans have decided not to exercise their $2.3 million team option for Brandon Boston Jr., allowing the 23-year-old guard to enter unrestricted free agency this offseason.

Boston initially joined the Pelicans late in the 2023–24 season on a standard contract after spending time with the Los Angeles Clippers.

He went on to appear in 42 games for New Orleans, including 10 starts, and provided solid production off the bench.

Boston averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in limited minutes while shooting a respectable 43.6% from the field and 35% from three-point range.

By declining the team option, the Pelicans are signaling that they will explore other backcourt or wing options in free agency or the trade market.

Boston, meanwhile, will now be free to negotiate with any team without restriction, and his age and scoring ability could draw interest from clubs looking to add depth on the perimeter.
